The purpose of this blog post is to provide the guidance and the steps needed to install Veeam Backup & Replication (v12 Beta2) on Windows Server 2022 Standard.

As a reminder and like my fellow Veeam Vanguards, I am privileged to have early access to the new version while it’s in beta format before it’s released to the public in GA (General Availability).
Things to keep in mind:
- Upgrades from any previous builds is not supported. Only clean installs are permitted.
- Beta testers should not contact Veeam Support with any beta related issues and must not post anything on the public forums. If you need assistance as it applies to the BETA version, please contact me or a fellow Veeam Vanguard for assistance.
The installation was a clean install (not an upgrade from a previous version) in my home lab environment. To begin the process, you must first download the ISO, mount the image, and then start the installation with the setup file.

Next is the installation process which includes the VBR12 installation options. In this example, I selected Install for VBR12, invoked the Setup command, accepted the License Agreement which includes the Beta license.

Select OK when prompted to install Microsoft Visual C++:

Accept the license agreements and then select Next:

If you don’t have a license, please select Next to proceed with the installation of the Community Edition.

From there, I was required to install missing features because it didn’t meet the minimum requirements but that was accomplished by clicking Install and then the installation proceeded without any issues. Select Install to proceed:

Select Next to proceed:

Select Install to proceed:

Select Finish to complete the installation.

Below is confirmation the installation was a success.

Thank you to everyone at Veeam, the Veaam Vanguard Program and the #vCommunity for your support, you know how much I appreciate it and none of this is possible without you.
