How to Add VMware vSphere Servers to Veeam Backup and Replication v12 Beta2

The purpose of this blog post is to provide the guidance and the steps needed to add a VMware vSphere server to Veeam Backup and Replication. For the purpose of this demo, I am currently using the beta for v12 Beta2 for Veeam Backup and Replication (VBR). Once VBR has been successfully launched, please select the Backup Infrastructure view and then select Add Server from the Inventory pane. At the Add Server window, please select the desired server type. In this case, we will select VMware vSphere followed by vSphere.

Starting with the New VMware Server window, you will be prompted for a NameCredentialsSSH Connection, and a Summary. Once this information has been provided successfully, please select Next, then Finish at the Summary window to proceed.

You’ll notice the VMware vCenter server is now listed under Backup Infrastructure.

Managed Servers

If you select Inventory and then the vCenter Server that was just added to VBR11 (in my example), the virtual machines will be displayed.

If I missed anything, please let me know. Also, please checkout similar Veeam related blog posts from my fellow Veeam Vanguards.

Additionally, I would highly recommend Veeam’s new community program and here is where you can become a Veeam Legend
