What seemed so far away is now here and the adrenaline running through my body is at an all time high! I was overjoyed with excitement when my application for the Veeam Vanguard program was accepted earlier this year but the reality of traveling to Prague seemed like a dream but now it’s a reality.
This will be my first time attending the Summit which includes my first time traveling to Prague. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the city, culture, food and history. This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity and I intend to capture every moment as often as possible.
Furthermore, I get to reconnect with fellow Vanguards whom I consider as friends and also create new friendships with anyone I have yet to meet from the program until now. Earlier this year, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet with current Veeam employees and Vanguards at VeeamON which included the chance to present during the conference. Additionally, we’ve crossed paths at various events like VMworld US and Cloud Field Day 5.
With each meeting or event attended, I feel like I’m winning the lottery. It’s refreshing to be surrounded by your peers but more importantly around people that care and support your efforts. When I presented at VeeamON with Rick Vanover, Jim Jones, Matt Crape, Shane Williford, and Kevin Allen, I was so nervous and started to question what I’m getting myself into. Thanks to Rick, I’ve started to appreciate the chance to speak and most recently did so at the Dallas Ft. Worth UserCon and none it would be possible without the names I’ve listed above and many more but it also includes MyVMUG and the Dallas Ft. Worth VMUG. To everyone involved that continue to encourage me to do things I never imagined, THANK YOU!
Onto the Vanguard Summit! What’s in store is the unknown but what I hope to learn and absorb excites me. I’ll be surrounded by key personnel at Veeam and I’m sure they have a few surprises for us to share and I personally can’t wait for it. I encourage you to follow along starting on October 14th to learn about new products and features but also hear from some of the best in the Vanguard program.
For those that have gotten to know me, I continue to preach about the value of community involvement. I slept on it for so long and regret doing so but I’m no longer looking in the rear view mirror. My foot is on the pedal and driving full steam ahead. There are so many examples to choose from but I’ll include recent posts from Luciano Patrao and Nathan Oldfield. Listen to their stories, follow in their footsteps like I have and strive for greatness.
Finally, a never ending thank you to Melissa Palmer for igniting the fire in me to become a part of this great community but more importantly for being an absolute gem of a friend but one of the finest people you’ll ever get to know which includes being a tremendous asset to Veeam and the vCommunity in general. The only thing missing from our friendship is the chance to meet in person for the first time but it’s going to happen sooner than later.
