If You Build It….

Much like the theme from Field Of Dreams, if you believe in something they will come. Belief is the foundation but the community coming together are the bricks needed to Build the core. Rubrik’s Build is just that and to quote Archibald “Moonlight” Graham from the movie, Rubrik is willing to “Go the distance!”

Rubrik has created a community for everyone to build, share, collaborate and learn. Matt Elliot (Technical Marketing Engineer, Rubrik) provided the audience the Rubrik Build overview. It’s built as a resource that’s geared towards Rubrik’s customers but it’s not a Rubrik product meant to be sold however it is available for anyone to use. As the Rubrik Build grows, Matt suggested you follow Roxie (Rubrik’s Virtual Community Manager). She’s a great resource and will occasionally share some Rubrik swag.

The Rubrik Build website is broken into 3 categories (Software Development Kits, Tooling Integrations, and Use Cases). The SDK page includes GO, PowerShell and Python, each intended for well-versed automation experts. The Tooling Integrations are tools meant to be used for various reasons including testing, development, and monitoring with Rubrik integration. The Use Cases are available to you but may not apply to your environment. The API documentation is intended to be used as a resource for users that links to different repos on GitHub.

Matt then provided us with a Terraform Use Case for Cloud Cluster demo.

As I reflect on this demo and as a community advocate, I fully support this initiative. When we all contribute towards a common goal, everyone wins. The community aspect has been tremendous in my growth over the last 2-3 years and their are many organizations like Rubrik that create these opportunities for IT professionals to learn from. For someone like myself or a college graduate right out of school that doesn’t have any experience with running code or an API, what better way to learn than from a community member that’s shared their knowledge and expertise.

To learn more about Rubrik, please click on the links below to watch the presentations which were recorded live while on-site for Cloud Field Day 5:

Please take a moment to subscribe to the Tech Field Day YouTube channel which also includes watching the various videos that were posted throughout CFD5. Kudos to PrimeImage Media for recording the live sessions.

Thanks again to our sponsor Rubrik for hosting and credit to Ken NalboneStephen FoskettBen T. Gage and the wonderful people at Tech Field Day and Gestalt for allowing me to join them.
